Today was another glorious sunny day, a rare jewel in November. It was made even sweeter by the knowledge that tomorrow, we're back to dark gray days and rain rain rain. So, when a friend called to say she was going to the Arboretum and did I want to come with, I jumped at the chance!
The Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle is a wonderful place, nature in the middle of city, natives and rare exotics, grassy avenues to stroll and gravel trails to hike.
We started out with a little trip through the University of Washington campus...
There were many lovely vistas to enjoy...
I liked these colors in a row...
Of course there's a lot of moss, this being the PNW...
Loved the shiny exposed bark on this cherry tree...
More vistas...
Lots of gorgeous trees, in all sorts of colors...
And lots of mushrooms!
Vistas....
I tried a lot of shots with sunlight through the leaves but it didn't always work out. some good shots, though.
Loved these itty bitty teensy weensy maple leaves. Of course I don't have anything to scale in the photo so you can tell, but some of these leaves are only .5" across - or even less!
Our view at lunch, from the sidewalk table at a lovely Irish pub, looking out across Lake Washington and the 520 Floating Bridge, off to the Cascade Mountains.
Our lunch. :)
Some views strolling the Madison Park Beach...
The Arboretum, the neighborhood nearby, Union Bay and the 520 highway are all interwoven.
I'm so glad I got to spent this incredible gift of a sunny day with a good friend, nature, good food, and many laughs.
